What is Microbe Symbiosis?

The term symbiosis refers to the relationship between two or more organisms of different species. Different patterns of co-existence are present in nature. These are mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. In mutualism, both species benefit. Commensalism is beneficial to one species but causes no harm to the other. Parasitism benefits one organism whilst harming the other, and as such is not considered to be a symbiotic relationship between two species.
The microbe symbiosis technology which we have include the symbiosis between two or more bacteria, and the symbiosis between the host and bacteria. First one technology, we screen different strain, and find the characteristic of each strain, exploit the individual characteristic to find the symbiosis point between two strains. in the symbiosis relationship state, both strains benefit. For example, when aerobic bacteria eliminate the oxygen in isolate system, anaerobic bacteria can get better environment to survive.
The second symbiosis technology, we screen the intestinal bacteria which can dosing in the intestinal of the host. For this objective, sometimes we must to exploit the different bacteria to produce prebiotic to help intestinal bacteria dosing.


Solid state fermentation

Sloid-state fermentation (SSF) means the microbe fermentation in solid medium. Because solid medium has lower dispersibility and fluidity, the control of fermentation process become much mor difficult than traditional liquid-state fermentation. For example, the aeration or cooling is not easy as traditional process. But a lot of time, powder probiotic could be used more convenient. The product manufactured by traditional fermentation contain water more than 98%, and remove the water is difficult. Because probiotic fear high temperature and pressure, the drying process is very expensive, and the yield is very low (maybe lower than 2%). For this reason, SSF is competitive. The moisture of the product by SSF around 25-45%, the dry process can exploit wind at room temperature to remove the water, and yield is around 50-80%. Beside this, SSF produce a lot of biologically active secondary metabolites, so SSF has built up credibility in recent years in biotech industries. Especially for the production of microbial products such as feed, fuel, food, industrial chemicals and pharmaceutical products.
